Security System Troubles


Power Series and Alexor

If you have one of the following systems:

  • Power 832
  • PC1616
  • PC1832
  • PC1864
  • PC5010
  • PC9155

If a trouble exists, the yellow trouble light will turn ON and the keypad sounder will beep every 10 seconds. Press the [#] key to silence the beeps.

To determine what is causing the trouble condition, press [*] then [2]
Use the [>] key to scroll through troubles. If an asterisk is displayed, press [*] for more information.

Press [#] when done viewing trouble conditions.

Classic Systems

If you have one of the following systems:

  • PC550
  • PC1000
  • PC1500
  • PC1550
  • PC2000
  • PC2550
  • PC3000

If a trouble exists, the yellow trouble light will turn ON and the keypad sounder will beep twice every 10 seconds. Press the [#] key to silence the beeps.

To determine what is causing the trouble condition, press [*] then [2]

One or more zone lights will be lit. Refer to the following chart:

Zone Light 1 ON = Low/Dead Battery
Zone Light 2 ON = Loss of AC Power
Zone Light 3 ON = Day Zone Light Trouble
Zone Light 4 ON = Telephone Line Fault
Zone Light 5 ON = Failure to Communicate
Zone Light 6 ON = Bell Circuit Trouble
Zone Light 7 ON = Fire Alarm Trouble
Zone Light 8 ON = Loss of Clock

Troubles Explained

Low Battery - Battery needs replacing, please call to order battery or to schedule a service call.

AC Power Failure - The system is operating on standby batteries. Possible causes: 1) the building or neighborhood has lost power, 2) the power cube has been unplugged or has failed, 3) the GFI outlet or breaker is tripped. If you have power, check the electrical outlet to see if it is working, if not check the breakers and/or GFI outlet.

Telephone Line Fault - The system has detected that the telephone line is disconnected. Calls to central station will fail. Possible causes: 1) the power is out. Did you have phone work at premise? Did you cancel the alarm line? Call for service.

Failure to Communicate - The system attempted to call the central station several times and failed. Was power out for extended period? Try testing system. Did you switch phone companies or have phone work at premise? If so you will need to call for service.

Bell Circuit Trouble - Alarm siren malfunction, call for service.

Fire Alarm Circuit Trouble - Possible causes: 1) Missing/Removed smoke detector, 2) Wiring bad. Call for service.

Loss of Time & Date, Loss of Clock - Possible causes: 1) total loss of AC and battery power. The time & date will need to be re-programmed.
